Phone box on Clyro Hill 9: December 23rd, 2005. Techy stuff: Nikon D2X, 24mm, f8, .6ND graduated filter. This one is on digital; all the others on film. I don't really like the 'look' although the resolution is extraordinary. I think that the 'digital revolution' in photography is another area of mass self-delusion, promulgated by those who have a vested interest in promoting it. The manufacturers who can eke out minor technological improvements every couple of years with attendant vast costs in equipment; the shops who can do likewise; the owners who want to justify vast expenditure for a camera that is only just comparable with film. If you had just forked out three grand or more for the latest digi-miracle, would you even consider for one moment that a Nikon F3 with a 50mm lens takes a picture that is equally as good, if not perhaps slightly better? Ignore the experts, guys, and lead with your eyes and heart, not the crowd and graphs - which looks and feels better? | ||
