art gallery

August 2006: Milwaukee Museum and Art Gallery, USA.

A spectacular 'winged' building designed by Santiago Callatrava of Spain that uses a set of vanes lifted by hydraulic rams to keep the sun from the rest of the building. In truth it is a bit of a gimmick but is nonetheless impressive - perhaps something the Krell might have come up with. It wasn't open as the time was still only 6:30 AM, but I was only one of three photographers out there that morning. The wings, I learned, didn't spread until it opened, at 10:00.
